Nib labels are not a universal line-width scale. Ink, paper and the individual nib affect the mark.
A Japanese pen maker.
A century of writing.
Platinum’s roots go back to 1919. Its fountain pen range now spans clear everyday pens, aluminum bodies and gold-nibbed models.
Platinum is the manufacturer. The nib material depends on the model.

A PRACTICAL DIFFERENCE.
The cap matters, too.
Preppy, Plaisir, Procyon and the selected #3776 Century use Platinum’s Slip & Seal system to limit ink drying while capped.
The closure differs: Preppy and Plaisir snap shut; Procyon and #3776 Century screw closed.

“the nib writes very well for such a low cost pen.”

The practical part of the catalogue.
01Does every Platinum pen have a gold nib?+
No. The selected Preppy, Plaisir and Procyon have stainless steel nibs. The PNB-15000 #3776 Century Bourgogne shown here has a 14K gold nib.
02Which cartridges and converters fit?+
These four series use Platinum cartridges or a compatible Platinum converter. Standard international cartridges should not be assumed to fit. Check the refill compatibility before buying.
03Is a converter included?+
The selected Procyon listing explicitly sells the converter separately. Preppy lists an ink cartridge; Plaisir’s accessories need checking. The #3776 listing has conflicting package information, so confirm any converter, bottle or gift-box extras with the seller.
04Will every Fine nib write the same width?+
No. Fine is a nib designation, not an identical measured line across all series. The selected Preppy is labeled Fine 03 (0.3 mm); paper and ink also affect the resulting line.
05What does Slip & Seal do?+
It is Platinum’s inner-cap sealing system, designed to limit ink drying while the pen is capped. The selected pens use it, but their outer caps do not all close the same way.
06Can these pens use bottled ink?+
Yes, with a compatible Platinum converter. Use ink intended for fountain pens, and follow the pen and ink care instructions. Keep the pen capped when it is not in use.
